Fort Worth's 23rd Día de los Muertos: A Parade Up North Main, Then a Festival at Marine Park (Dallas Watch News)

Fort Worth celebrates Día de los Muertos the Northside way on Saturday. The 23rd annual Día de los Muertos en Fort Worth - Celebración de Vida, Arte y Cultura, presented by Artes de la Rosa, takes center stage on North Main Street in the Historic Northside District: the parade runs from 10 to 11 a.m., beginning at North Main and Central Avenue and heading north toward the Stockyards, and the festival follows at Marine Park from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

The festival is a full afternoon of the traditions the day is built on - food, visual artists, face painting, and live performances from mariachis, opera singers and ballet folklórico, according to DFW Child's guide. At 12:50 p.m., the Cliburn in the Community performs on the Marine Park Stage at 303 NW 20th Street: soprano Georgia Fender, violinist Haerim Elizabeth Lee and pianist Mikail Berestnev play a program that runs from spooky seasonal classics to Broadway tunes and songs from beloved movies.

Artes de la Rosa presents the celebration in collaboration with the City of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization and Visit Fort Worth. For families, the shape of the day is simple: the parade in the morning, Marine Park for the afternoon, and Halloween still ahead Saturday night.
