Scarborough's Hollow in Waxahachie Closes Its Season This Weekend, With a Día de los Muertos Finale
The Renaissance festival's Halloween transformation — 20-plus live acts, 70 artisan shoppes and turkey legs — runs its last Saturday in Waxahachie, then closes Sunday with a Day of the Dead celebration.

The fall season at Waxahachie's festival grounds ends this weekend. Scarborough's Hollow — the Scarborough Renaissance Festival transformed for fall into a Halloween fantasy — runs its final days of the season on Saturday, with a special Día de los Muertos celebration closing the run on Sunday, November 1, at 2511 FM 66 in Waxahachie.
The Hollow's scale is the spring festival's, in autumn dress: more than 20 live acts and 70 artisan shoppes across the grounds. The food lineup is a fair in itself — apple-pie nachos, s'mores funnel cake, hot-chocolate bombs, pumpkin-pie fluff, soups served in bread bowls, and the gigantic turkey legs that are the festival's signature at any season.
For Metroplex families, the Hollow is Halloween weekend's drive-out option: close enough for a Saturday in costume, and — with Sunday's Día de los Muertos celebration — one of the few places where the weekend's two holidays share the same grounds. After Sunday, the season is done, and the grounds go quiet until the Renaissance festival returns.
