FC Dallas Draws 1-1 at Sporting Kansas City as Musa's Stoppage-Time Penalty Is Saved (Dallas Watch News)

FC Dallas will come home from Kansas City with a point, a club record, and one kick it will think about all week. Dallas drew 1-1 with Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park on Saturday afternoon, in a match the visitors led, lost control of before halftime, and then nearly won at the very end.

The start was the Dallas the road schedule has been built on. Wingback Herman Johansson scored in the 19th minute — his first career goal for FC Dallas — finishing a move built by Ran Binyamin, who recorded his third assist of the season, and Santi Moreno, who earned his fourth. Kansas City, playing its home finale, answered in first-half stoppage time through Jansen Miller, and the second half produced no winner despite Dallas's late push.

The last chance was the biggest. In the 96th minute, after Miller was called for a handball in the penalty area, Petar Musa stepped to the spot with the win on his foot — and Kansas City goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland stopped the penalty to preserve the draw. The result eliminated Dallas from winning the Western Conference with one regular-season match remaining. The consolation is in the record book: at 7-5-5, Dallas finished its 2026 road schedule with its best road record of the post-shootout era, a club-record seven road wins and a club-record 30 away goals. Dallas (15-8-10, 55 points) closes the regular season at home against the Colorado Rapids on Fan Appreciation Night, Saturday, November 7, at 6 p.m. CT.
