The regular season's first perfect record in the Metroplex is in. Frisco Lone Star did not leave its perfect season to the final Friday. The Rangers closed the regular season 10-0 on Thursday night, beating McKinney North 58-7 in the District 5A-5 Division I finale at Kuykendall Stadium, and the night belonged to junior quarterback Trey Wright. The USC commit accounted for more than 400 yards of total offense and six touchdowns — 9-of-15 passing for 264 yards and three scores, 140 rushing yards on just five carries with three more touchdowns, and a 13-yard reception — while his future college coach, USC's Lincoln Riley, watched from the home crowd, High School On SI reported in its game file, read in full this run.
The rout was total. Lone Star piled up 542 yards of offense — 265 rushing and 277 passing — and held McKinney North to 308 total yards and just 6 through the air. Clemson commit Bryant Robinson's 50-yard pick-six set the tone in the first quarter; Karece Hoyt added 66 rushing yards and a touchdown and caught three passes for 98 yards and another score. The Rangers, ranked No. 5 in the High School On SI Texas Top 25, finish the regular season having scored 494 points and allowed 149. McKinney North (7-2, 4-3 in district) got its lone touchdown from senior tailback John Richardson, who ran for 152 yards on 22 carries.
The rest of the Metroplex finishes tonight: the Texas regular season officially ends Friday, Nov. 6, with playoff pairings and brackets released Nov. 7–8 and the first round beginning Nov. 12, USA TODAY's playoff schedule file reports. The road for every class ends in Arlington — the state championship games run Dec. 16–19 at AT&T Stadium. The Sports Desk's Friday-night roundup files after tonight's finals.
