Halloween Costumes 2026: Dallas Is Searching Kill Bill, the Nation Is Searching Buddy the Unicorn
Google's Frightgeist map says the costume Dallas–Fort Worth searched into the lead this Halloween is Kill Bill - while the national list belongs to a cheerful unicorn from a horror movie, a squishy toy, and Nikki from Obsession.

If the sidewalks are the scoreboard, Dallas has picked its fighter. The top trending Halloween costume in the Dallas–Fort Worth market this year is Kill Bill, according to Google's Frightgeist map, which ranks costumes by comparing search interest in September 2026 with September 2025. The yellow jumpsuit is the local breakout; the rest of the country's big markets went their own ways - an M&M in Chicago, Napoleon Dynamite in Phoenix, Willy Wonka in Pittsburgh and a mime in Indianapolis.
Nationally, the list belongs to Buddy the Unicorn, the cheerful-looking character from the 2026 horror movie Buddy, at No. 1 - followed by Needoh, the squishy toy, and Nikki from Obsession. Google's trending list measures the biggest spikes in searches, not sales, which is why it rewards breakouts over the steady classics.
The category lists are just as specific. For kids, Dolly Parton is the No. 1 trending costume nationally. For pets, the top search is a centipede. And for couples, Disco Scooby and Shaggy lead the searches. Dallas–Fort Worth trick-or-treaters heading out Saturday evening will be able to grade the map against the neighborhood: count the yellow jumpsuits, then count the unicorns.
