I-30 in Rockwall County: A Week of Overnight Lane Closures Starts Sunday Night
Contractor crews will close lanes on I-30 and FM 548 in Rockwall County from November 1 through 7 - alternating overnight closures between SH 205 and FM 3549, daytime frontage-road flagging, and full overnight closures of FM 548.

Rockwall County drivers get a construction week on Interstate 30. Contractor crews will implement several lane and road closures on I-30 and nearby roads from Sunday, November 1, through Saturday, November 7, according to a contractor notice posted October 30 and reported by East DFW News. Eastbound lanes of I-30 between State Highway 205 and Farm-to-Market Road 3549 will see alternating overnight closures from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for removals, sod placement and installation of cement-treated base, and westbound lanes between John King Boulevard and SH 205 will see alternating overnight closures in the same hours for cement-treated base work.
The daytime work is on the frontage road. From November 2 through 7, flagging operations are planned on the westbound frontage road of I-30 between FM 2642 and FM 551 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., as crews install low-profile barriers. And FM 548 itself closes fully overnight - northbound and southbound, from November 1 through 6, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. - while crews install diaphragms and shoring.
The contractor says crews will coordinate with emergency medical services, fire departments and police to allow access through the closure areas should emergencies occur. For everyone else, the practical rule for the week is the overnight one: after 9 p.m. in Rockwall County, expect I-30 to narrow and FM 548 to be shut, and plan the alternate before the cones do it for you.
