Weekend Traffic in Dallas–Fort Worth: I-30 Horizon Road Exit Closes Into 2027, Harwood Ramp Shut Nights Through Nov. 2

No full downtown I-30 shutdown repeats this weekend - but Rockwall drivers lose the eastbound Horizon Road exit until early 2027, and the Harwood Street ramp onto westbound I-30 stays on nightly closures through Monday morning.

Weekend Traffic in Dallas–Fort Worth: I-30 Horizon Road Exit Closes Into 2027, Harwood Ramp Shut Nights Through Nov. 2 (Dallas Watch News)

The biggest weekend change is in Rockwall. The eastbound Interstate 30 off-ramp to Horizon Road - Exit 67A - closed starting Friday, October 30, and stays closed through early 2027 for construction, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Eastbound drivers bound for Horizon Road use Exit 67B instead during the closure.

The ramp work is one piece of TxDOT's $348 million I-30 corridor expansion, which is widening the interstate and adding continuous frontage roads from State Highway 205 to the Hunt County line, including new frontage-road bridges over Lake Ray Hubbard. The overall project is expected to finish by early 2028.

Closer to downtown, the westbound I-30 entrance ramp at Harwood Street, just west of the I-45 interchange, continues its nightly closures - shut from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the nightly pattern scheduled to run through 5 a.m. Monday, November 2. Mainline I-30 lanes remain open, and TxDOT crews have detours posted. Drivers who lived through last weekend's full Canyon shutdown can plan normally this weekend: no full downtown I-30 closure appears in the TxDOT roadwork listing for Saturday and Sunday.
