TCU's season opener was over by halftime and historic by the final horn: Micah Robinson and DJ Thomas scored 19 apiece, five Horned Frogs reached double figures, and a 98-59 rout of Lindenwood gave Jamie Dixon his 200th win at his alma mater, five short of the program record.

TCU did not ease into its season. Micah Robinson and DJ Thomas poured in 19 points apiece and the Horned Frogs rolled to a 98-59 victory over Lindenwood on Monday night in Fort Worth, in the season opener for both teams, Reuters reported.

Brock Harding added 17 points, Trent Lincoln scored 12 on 3-of-4 shooting from three-point range, and Tanner Toolson had 10, with Ryan Hunt pulling down a team-leading eight rebounds. TCU shot 46.9 percent from the field, won the rebounding battle 46-37, and built a 57-37 halftime lead that removed any doubt about the outcome before the second half began.

The second half only widened it. At one point TCU outscored the Lions 25-2, a stretch that included a 17-0 run pushing the lead to 81-42 with 10 minutes to play, according to Lindenwood's own athletics account of the game. Malek Archie led Lindenwood with 18 points and eight rebounds, on 9-of-15 shooting, in a game the Lions can file under measuring sticks: they pulled down 16 offensive rebounds and still lost by 39.

The milestone belonged to the head coach. The win was Jamie Dixon's 200th at TCU, in his 11th season leading his alma mater — five short of the program record of 205, the Associated Press noted. Under Dixon, TCU also improved to 54-9 in November and December, a record that says something about how his teams arrive at a season: ready.

Fort Worth's other half of the Metroplex's opening-night doubleheader ended the way the schedule-makers would have drawn it: a ranked-conference roster, balanced scoring, and a coach closing on a school record. TCU is 1-0, and the record watch is now a live story for the rest of the month.
