Doorbell Cameras Catch Suspect Kicking Doors and Breaking Glass in East Dallas Break-In Attempts
Homeowners in Lake Highlands reported an overnight intruder who rang bells, punched out a front-door window and kicked doors early Friday; Dallas police say the investigation continues and a person first identified was ruled out.

An unknown man attempted to break into homes in a Lake Highlands neighborhood overnight, and doorbell cameras recorded him ringing bells, walking porches and attacking a front door, FOX 4 reported. At the home of resident Jeff Jones, the attempt came at about 1:20 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 30: the man punched the glass window of the front door until it broke, leaving blood on the porch, then kicked the door repeatedly before leaving.
Jones told FOX 4 he slept through the attempt and learned of it from calls and texts from his son, who had not slept through it. Nothing was stolen, but Jones said he filed a report with the Dallas Police Department and remains worried after years in the neighborhood; he said officers did not arrive until about 7 a.m., hours after the overnight attempt.
Dallas police are treating the incident as a burglary and continue to investigate, FOX 4 reported. Police identified a potential suspect on Friday but determined that person was not the man responsible, according to the report.
