Deep Ellum Shootings: Police Publish Three Case Numbers and Ask for Video as the Chief Says There Is No Indication the Scenes Are Related
The Dallas Police Department has put case numbers and a named investigator on the three Deep Ellum shootings — 19 victims, four dead — and Chief Daniel Comeaux said Sunday there is so far no indication the three incidents were related.

The investigation into the Deep Ellum shootings now has a public shape. In its written release, the Dallas Police Department documented the three scenes — about 12:20 a.m. in the 2600 block of Elm Street, 1:05 a.m. in the 2600 block of Main Street, and 1:35 a.m. in the 200 block of South Crowdus Street — and assigned them case numbers 160927-2026, 160964-2026 and 160966-2026. Among the 19 victims, the department said, four were pronounced deceased and 15 were injured and taken to local hospitals, and no officers were injured.
At his Sunday morning news conference, Chief Daniel Comeaux said there was so far no indication that the three incidents were related, USA TODAY reported. At least one person was in custody, he said, and the scope of the night was still fluid because some victims had taken themselves to hospitals. 'This is completely unacceptable for it to take place in Dallas, and we're going to do everything we need to do to get everyone in custody who's responsible for this,' the chief told reporters. The department's written release states that the suspects remain outstanding at this time.
Police are asking anyone with information — or with video, photographs or social media material from the night — to contact Sgt. Boz Rojas, #10379, at (214) 671-3598 or boz.rojas@dallaspolice.gov. Comeaux said officers had already been assigned extra patrols in Deep Ellum for Halloween, which enabled a rapid response, and that investigators would review surveillance footage from area businesses. Police have not released the names of anyone killed, injured or in custody, and this story carries none.
