Overnight on the West Side: I-20 Drops to One Lane, I-30 Rolls Closures in Fort Worth, and Rockwall's I-30 Work Runs to 5 A.M.
TxDOT's overnight list for Election Eve puts westbound I-20 at one lane in Fort Worth, rolling closures on I-30 all week, and alternating I-30 closures plus a full FM 548 shutdown in Rockwall County — all of it weather permitting, on a storm night.

Drivers crossing Fort Worth tonight run into TxDOT's biggest overnight item first: westbound I-20's mainlanes are reduced to one lane from the I-30 interchange to Exit 420, the FM 1187/FM 3325 exit, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., for overhead sign work. The department's roadwork page says it plainly: expect delays.
Just north of it, I-30 gets rolling closures in both directions between the I-820 West Loop and Linkcrest Drive, nightly from tonight through November 6, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., while crews do pavement marking maintenance. The daytime companion work continues Tuesday: the eastbound I-30 connector ramp to northbound I-820 may close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through November 7 for pavement removal, with traffic detoured onto southbound I-820, and the westbound I-30 exit to SP 580 and Linkcrest Drive closes intermittently in the same hours, with a detour via Walsh Ranch Parkway.
On the east side of the Metroplex, the Rockwall County I-30 program is in its second night: eastbound lanes between State Highway 205 and FM 3549 and westbound lanes between John King Boulevard and SH 205 close on an alternating basis from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through November 7, for removals, sod placement and cement-treated base installation. FM 548 is fully closed in both directions overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. through November 6, while crews install diaphragms and shoring, and both I-30 frontage roads between FM 2642 and FM 551 get daytime flagging from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through November 7.
One caution covers every line on this list: TxDOT notes that closures are subject to change due to weather, and tonight is a storm night, with a severe line crossing the Metroplex into the early hours. Crews can stand down in lightning, and a closure that does not happen is as much a part of the overnight picture as one that does — check DriveTexas before a late trip, and never drive around barricades into a work zone or high water.
