PM DRIVE — SOUTHEAST CONNECTOR

PM Drive Into Tonight: Southbound I-820 Closes at the US 287 Interchange, and Eastbound I-20 Drops to Two Lanes at Business 287

The southeast side carries tonight's heaviest work: a full nightly closure of southbound I-820 at US 287 through November 4, its ramp to eastbound I-20 shut with it, and eastbound I-20 narrowed at Business 287 on the last night of its two-night run.

PM Drive Into Tonight: Southbound I-820 Closes at the US 287 Interchange, and Eastbound I-20 Drops to Two Lanes at Business 287 (Dallas Watch News)

Start with the closure that is a closure, not a narrowing. On TxDOT's Southeast Connector project page, southbound I-820 is listed as closed at the US 287 interchange, nightly, from November 1 through November 4. The same stretch carries two companion restrictions in the same window: southbound I-820 is reduced to two lanes at Meadowbrook Drive, and the southbound I-820 ramp to eastbound I-20 is closed as an interchange ramp closure. For a driver crossing southeast Fort Worth after dark this week, that is the interchange to plan around — the southbound through-route and its eastbound I-20 connection are both interrupted in the same nights.

Eastbound I-20 has its own, shorter item. TxDOT lists eastbound I-20 reduced to two lanes at Business 287, nightly, on November 1 and 2 — which makes Monday night the last night of that two-night run. Together the two corridors describe the shape of the Southeast Connector work this week: I-20's narrowing finishes tonight, while the I-820 southbound closure at US 287 runs three more nights after this one.

One caveat belongs at the top of every plan made from this page, and TxDOT prints it there itself: dates and times are subject to change due to weather and field conditions. That is not boilerplate on this particular Monday — a line of severe storms is crossing the Metroplex overnight, and wet pavement is exactly the kind of field condition that moves night work. The closures above are the posted plan for tonight; a driver who finds the barrels missing has not misread the map — the weather has edited it.
