Deep Ellum Shootings: First Call at 12:19 A.M. on Elm Street, Four Dead Confirmed, Chief's Update Expected Sunday (Dallas Watch News)

The calls came in across three hours and three streets. Dallas police confirmed the first shooting call at about 12:19 a.m. along the 2600 block of Elm Street in Deep Ellum, NBC 5 reported; a second call followed just after 1 a.m. one block south, along the 2600 block of Main Street; and at about 3:30 a.m. a third shooting was reported along South Ervay Street. Police shut down parts of the neighborhood around 1 a.m. as officers from across the city secured the scenes, CBS News Texas reported.

The toll, as the chief has now confirmed it, is at least four people killed. The Dallas Morning News reports Chief Daniel Comeaux confirmed at least four people were killed across two locations, while at least six others were wounded at a third. CBS News Texas put the scene-by-scene account this way: a first shooting around midnight at a Deep Ellum convenience store, gunfire along Commerce Street that left three people dead, and a shooting in the 2600 block of Elm Street that left one person dead — four dead and five wounded in its count. The wounded totals still differ across reputable reports this morning, and this story carries them as reported, not settled.

What police have not said may matter most. Dallas police have not confirmed whether the three shootings are connected, NBC 5 reported — FOX 4's sources earlier said the scenes were not believed to be related, but authorities have not publicly confirmed that or offered any motive. No suspects have been publicly identified, no arrests have been announced, and the names of the dead and the conditions of the wounded have not been released. Police planned a Sunday news conference on the shootings, the Associated Press reported, and Comeaux is expected to provide an update Sunday morning. This story will be updated when he does.
