Weekend Traffic in Dallas–Fort Worth: Westbound I-30 Closes at Spur 580 Tonight, Rockwall's Work Takes Its Final Day, and the Canyon Detours Hold
Fort Worth drivers get the weekend's one full closure: westbound I-30 shuts at Spur 580 from 9 tonight until 5 a.m. Saturday, with traffic on the frontage road past Linkcrest. Rockwall County's week of I-30 work ends Saturday, and downtown's Canyon closures stay exactly where they were.

FORT WORTH — The weekend's headline closure is on the west side. TxDOT's advisory, read in full this run, closes westbound I-30 at the Spur 580 and West Camp Bowie Boulevard exit tonight, Nov. 6, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7. All westbound traffic exits at Spur 580, runs the frontage road and re-enters I-30 after Linkcrest Drive. The two-way crossover under I-30 between the frontage roads is closed for the same window, so frontage-road drivers cannot cross under the highway there either. Anyone crossing Fort Worth late Friday should budget the detour or take I-20.
On the east side, Rockwall County's long week of I-30 work — the contractor notice running Nov. 1–7 — takes its final day Saturday. The daytime frontage-road flagging between FM 2642 and FM 551, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., runs its last shift, and the alternating overnight closures, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. eastbound between State Highway 205 and FM 3549 and westbound between John King Boulevard and SH 205, run their final night Saturday night. After that, the notice expires and the corridor returns to its normal pattern until the next one posts.
Downtown, nothing about the long game changes this weekend. The I-30 Canyon project's standing closures remain in force between the I-35E and I-45/U.S. 75 interchanges: Cesar Chavez Boulevard and Akard Street closed and detoured at I-30 — Akard through summer 2028, Cesar Chavez through late 2028 — and Cadiz Street closed while it is rebuilt. The $888 million project runs to 2030, and TxDOT posts any additional planned weekend closures at drivetexas.org as they are scheduled.
